10:30–11:30 Kigi-abinòjìnjishag (Together with the Children) Walking the Journey of Reconciliation Presented by Elder Claudette Commanda
Claudette Commanda will share her personal understanding of what reconciliation is; and, the role of education to make reconciliation a success, and the reconciliation is important for all children. She will also speak about how she includes children in her work in promoting healing and relationship building.
11:30–12:30 The Intergenerational Impact of Residential and Day Schools

1:15–2:15 Intergenerational Trauma and the Rise of the Healers
The impacts of Indian Residential Schools and Indian Day Schools brought about an intentional break in Indigenous Culture and Way of Life. It created a need for Bridges, people who could walk between two Worlds and bring them together. A new generation of healers began to arise amidst this and serve those in need.

National Day For Truth and Reconciliation

Commemorating the second Annual Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, join us on Parliament Hill for a full day honouring the Survivors of Canada’s residential schools and remembering the children who did not return home.

We are currently seeking volunteers to assist with each day of event programming. Volunteers will aid in managing registrations, facilitating the Spirit Walk, and supporting staff with various onsite event duties. If you’d like to volunteer for one day or both, get in touch!
